Drawing on more than ten years of experience in admissions, advising, and writing coaching, Dr. Oriah Amit guides students to achieve their full potential in the college admissions process. She uses an encouraging and holistic approach to help students identify, develop, and persuasively convey their academic strengths and interests so that they can craft compelling applications to Ivy League schools and other prestigious colleges and universities.
Prior to joining Spark, Dr. Amit worked in admissions and advising for the honors program at the University of Southern California (USC), where she interviewed students for the university’s Presidential and Trustee merit scholarships. She also advised and taught hundreds of students at UCLA, where her guidance and investment in helping her students succeed won her numerous teaching awards. She draws on this extensive mentorship experience and deep knowledge of what colleges are looking for in top applicants to help students shine in today’s competitive admissions landscape.
Dr. Amit graduated magna cum laude from USC and went on to earn her MA and PhD from UCLA. Although she is a Los Angeles native, she lives in Boston these days and can be found exploring sites of historical significance and searching for the city’s best matcha latte.
