A former university faculty member and high school teacher, Dr. Rubin brings a deep understanding of adolescents and a rare perspective on higher education. She earned her doctorate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education as a Presidential Scholar, where she conducted one of the most comprehensive studies to date on how selective colleges make admissions decisions. She also served on admissions committees and advised colleges and universities on admissions strategy, giving Spark unique insider insight into what truly matters in the process.
Dr. Rubin’s combination of research expertise, teaching experience, and practical admissions knowledge has shaped Spark’s distinctive approach: one that emphasizes fit, confidence, and skill-building—not just college acceptance. Her vision continues to drive Spark’s curriculum, training, and student outcomes, ensuring families receive the highest-quality guidance in an increasingly competitive landscape. Dr. Rubin is also a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association. She lives in Brookline, MA, with her husband and three children.
